How online OSSD grading works: continuous 70/30 assessment

No single exam day decides your future. Ontario's continuous assessment model spreads your mark across the whole course — here is what that means in practice.

How online OSSD grading works: continuous 70/30 assessment

In many school systems, a single final exam can decide most of your grade. One bad day — one illness, one panic — and the year is gone. Ontario works differently, and it is one of the strongest reasons families choose the OSSD.

The 70/30 model

In an OSSD course, roughly 70% of your final mark is built from continuous coursework — assignments, labs, discussions and evaluations spread across the whole credit. The remaining 30% comes from final evaluations near the end of the course.

What that gives you

  • Consistent control over your final mark, instead of one high-pressure day
  • Constant feedback from your teacher while there is still time to improve
  • A mark that reflects three months of evidence, not three hours

Percentages that universities understand

Every credit is reported as a direct percentage on your Ontario transcript — the exact scale Canadian university admissions use natively. No conversion tables, no devaluation of your effort. If marks pressure is new to you, our FAQ covers how grading and exams work online.

At EGOS, all of this happens 100% online with Ontario Certified Teachers: proctored final evaluations, report cards and transcripts managed for you, and full access to your courses for up to 12 months. Tuition includes everything — and the application form shows your exact fees and scholarships before you submit.
